Comments from Mike P (on the Wobbly charter)

This strikes a big chord with me. People are willing to confess to so many things that define their identity - it is really pleasing to see someone tackle the good old class issues. There is a normal curve that can illustrate the wealth of societal members. If you are a woman you will be able to claim equality when the normal curve of women is the same as that of men. If you are black you can claim equality when the normal curve of coloured people is the same as that of whites. If you are gay then you can claim equalit when the normal curve is the same for you and hetroes. If you are a worker you can claim equality when the normal curve is the same as that of capitalists. Sounds unlikely - better get organised ...

Newtown Cafe Withholds Tips from Workers

Well it might not shock you, but I have a hot inside lead that hip Newtown cafe Cinque (next to the Dendy) actually withholds tips from their fantastic wait staff. The management give the excuse that tips are withheld "in lieu of breakages and shortfalls in the till". Come off it! Those are business risks that the owners add to the cost of food and coffee.

I've been drinking coffee at Cinque for years, and I usually drop my change in the tips jar. That's just a way to compliment the staff, to say "sure you brought me some coffee, but I apprciate that". I'm disgusted to learn that the staff don't get a cent of that money - which is given to the staff for just being really great.

Freecycling

Try http://www.freecycle.org to find local folks who want to take your old crap, and give you their's...for free. Its all about reducing waste, expecially wasting items in perfect working order.

htmlarea

Hmm, the new development website is fabbo, but I think I broke the htmlarea module somehow. I hope it can be fixed.
